Two weeks ago, Green Men and Women in Bo converged at the Bo Sports Stadium for a cleaning exercise following widespread concerns over the deteriorating condition of the facility.

The exercise followed calls for urgent intervention to restore the stadium, with the swift response of Sports Minister Augusta James-Teima and National Sports Authority (NSA) Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq. helping to address the situation.

According to Erick Fomba, the cleaning exercise has been divided into phases. The Green Men and Women undertook the first phase, while the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) and its partners have been confirmed to carry out the second phase on Saturday, 26 September 2026.

RSLAF’s Role

Speaking on the initiative, Major Sallu Kandeh said the RSLAF’s involvement is part of its responsibility to protect government property.

He explained that their superiors in Freetown received a request from NSA Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq. seeking their assistance with the cleaning of the stadium, and the request was subsequently approved.

The exercise reflects the RSLAF’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at protecting government facilities.

The continued cleaning exercise also highlights the ongoing efforts to restore and improve the Bo Sports Stadium, which remains an important sporting facility in the Southern Region.

The initiative further demonstrates Mohamed Alphaka Conteh’s commitment to protecting, maintaining and improving government-owned sporting facilities across Sierra Leone.
