Veteran Sierra Leonean tennis icon Mbalu Kargbo has reinforced her commitment to grassroots development by launching structured weekend training clinics for local youth at the Hill Station Tennis Court.

Affectionately known as “Coach Mbalu,” the star athlete conducts weekly coaching sessions every weekend for schoolchildren from Hill Station and neighboring communities.

The grassroots initiative provides professional, structured coaching designed for young players across all skill levels.

The program forms a core part of Kargbo’s vision to identify emerging talent, instill competitive discipline, and map out long-term career pathways through racket sports.

“Giving back to the sport that shaped my life is a priority,” Kargbo said. “My goal is to help these young players build both foundational techniques and the mindset needed to succeed.”

The weekly clinics mark a significant milestone for youth sports development in Freetown, boosting participation and refining technical skills among the capital’s young athletes.
