Sierra Leone is poised to make its official debut on the international powerlifting stage at the upcoming African Classic & Equipped Powerlifting and Bench Press Championships.

Powerlifter Armin Kamara will represent the country in South Africa, competing in the men’s 93kg weight class.

The championship is scheduled to take place from October 30 to November 5, 2026, in Potchefstroom.

The landmark participation marks a significant step forward under the newly elected executive of the Sierra Leone Powerlifting Federation, led by President Abdul Rahman Sesay.

Federation leadership aims to leverage this international appearance to expand local athlete development, raise the profile of strength sports across the country, and establish a consistent presence in continental competitions.
