FIFA President Gianni Infantino is prepared to consider distributing millions of dollars in additional funding to national football associations as he prepares to seek re-election amid growing opposition to his leadership.

The proposal follows a request by UEFA and CONCACAF for FIFA to provide at least $10 million to each of its 211 member associations during the 2027-2030 cycle. The proposed distribution would total approximately $2.1 billion and come from FIFA’s financial reserves, projected to reach $6 billion.

Infantino said he would support the highest level of additional funding that could be responsibly delivered through FIFA’s governance procedures.

The FIFA Council is expected to consider the proposal on October 15, 2026, with the debate unfolding ahead of the presidential election scheduled for March 2027. The additional payments have not yet been approved.
