The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), through its Referees Committee, has imposed a two-season ban on match official Foday Momoh following a disciplinary hearing held on September 16, 2026.
According to an SLFA press release issued on Thursday, October 1, the disciplinary proceedings concerned allegations relating to Momoh’s conduct in his capacity as a match official.
The Referees Committee said it considered the evidence presented, Momoh’s responses and other corroborating information before reaching its decision.
Following its deliberations, the Committee unanimously determined that Momoh’s conduct constituted serious breaches of the standards of professional responsibility, confidentiality, duty to report, transparency and candour expected of SLFA match officials.
As a result, Momoh has been suspended from all SLFA refereeing activities for the 2026/27 and 2027/28 football seasons.
During the period of the sanction, Momoh will not be permitted to serve as a referee, assistant referee or fourth official in SLFA-sanctioned competitions. He will also be prohibited from undertaking referee assessments or other official match-official functions on behalf of the SLFA.
In addition, the ban prevents him from representing himself as an SLFA match official in refereeing activities, courses or competitions during the two-season period.
The SLFA said the sanction takes immediate effect, while noting that it remains subject to any applicable appeal rights.
The Association further stated that the disciplinary action will be formally communicated through its official channels.
The SLFA said the decision forms part of its commitment to maintaining professionalism, accountability and fair play within football administration and match officiating, adding that it will continue to take disciplinary measures where match officials are found to have breached the standards and regulations governing their responsibilities.
