This annual sporting competition, organised by MOS/NSA, will feature Football for Men and Volleyball for Women, aimed at promoting physical fitness, wellness, teamwork and cohesion among civil and public servants.

Confirming the level of preparedness, Steven Keifala, Director of Participation and Sustainable Sports at NSA, disclosed that over 40 MDAs have expressed interest in this year’s competitions, reaffirming the growing popularity and importance of the MDA Games in promoting healthy living among public sector workers.

He further stated that high-profile institutions that have completed their registration include the Office of the President, the Office of the Vice President, and the Sierra Leone House of Parliament.

Also speaking, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Sports and Chairperson of the Technical Committee, Madam Precious Elizabeth Edmund Amara, stated that comprehensive rules and regulations have been developed and shared with all MDAs for their inputs. She added that training sessions for team captains, coaches and match commissioners have been conducted in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).

“Fixtures will be out next week,”

Madam Amara confirmed, adding that the official opening date will be announced very soon following the completion of the registration and screening exercise.

The 2026 MDA competitions form part of the Ministry of Sports and NSA’s mandate to promote “Sports for All” and enhance productivity in the workplace through sports and physical activity, in line with His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio’s Human Capital Development drive.

Meanwhile, intensive technical and physical training exercises for both football and volleyball are currently ongoing at the National Stadium Practice Field and Volleyball Courts by all participating MDAs.
