SLIFA FC has officially filed a case against the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and Bullom Stars FC before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over what it describes as its “unjust and unlawful removal” from the Sierra Leone Premier League.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the club’s management said the action followed “extensive behind-the-scenes engagements” to resolve the matter locally without success.
In its filing before CAS, SLIFA FC is seeking two key reliefs:
- A provisional interim order for the immediate inclusion of SLIFA FC into the Sierra Leone Premier League; and
- An order suspending the ongoing Premier League pending the hearing and determination of the matter.
“This step has been taken to protect the legitimate rights of the club and to uphold fairness, equity, and respect for due process in our football,” the statement said.
The club added: “We have full confidence in the judicial process and urge all our supporters to remain calm, law-abiding, and united. The matter is now sub judice and no further comment will be made.”
SLIFA FC’s removal has been one of the most controversial issues ahead of the 2026/27 Leone Rock Premier League season, which kicked off on October 10. Bullom Stars FC were included in place of SLIFA FC after the SLFA’s decision, which SLIFA has now formally challenged at the world sports tribunal in Lausanne.
If CAS grants the interim order, it could halt the ongoing Premier League season just days after kickoff.
More details to follow as the case develops.
