FREETOWN, Sierra Leone — The Dutch Public Prosecution Service (OM) has increased the reward for information leading to the arrest of fugitive drug trafficking suspect Jos Leijdekkers, known as “Bolle Jos,” from €200,000 to €2 million. It is the largest reward of its kind ever offered in the Netherlands.

Leijdekkers is one of Europe’s most wanted fugitives and is regarded by authorities as a key figure in the international cocaine trade. He has been sentenced in absentia in the Netherlands to 24 years in prison for large-scale drug trafficking and for ordering a killing. Dutch investigators say they have known since summer 2024 that he is living in Sierra Leone. Authorities in Freetown have previously denied claims that he is in the country.
The OM says the money will go to whoever makes his arrest possible, for example by revealing when he travels or when he is at locations outside Sierra Leone. Dutch Justice Minister David van Weel said the campaign will be spread in Sierra Leone and other West African countries as well as the Netherlands.
