Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL) on Friday, 11th September 2026, elected five persons to serve on its board for a mandate of five years.

Held at the Lagoonda Resort in Freetown, the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) brought together 36 delegates from 28 clubs and 6 associations, government representatives, observers and members of the press.

Representing the National Sports Authority (NSA) were Dr. Abdul Rahman Swaray, Deputy Executive Director of NSA; Mr. Steven Kaifala, Director of Sustainable Sports; and the Secretary to the NSA Board.

From the Ministry of Sports, Director of Sport Haroun Korjie was in attendance.

The National Olympic Committee (NOC) was represented by Ahmed Khanou, its Secretary General, and Idrissa Massaquoi, its Vice President.

During the election, Francis Trevor Samura retained his board chairmanship with 34 votes out of 36, while newcomer David Nelson Williams polled the same number of votes (34) for the vice-chairmanship. Both candidates ran unopposed going into Friday’s poll and were duly elected to their respective posts by the delegates.

For the three remaining board member spots, seven candidates contested:

  1. Moses Issa Mambu – 20 votes out of 36
  2. Alhaji Koroma – 29 votes out of 36
  3. Philip Sahr Sam – 28 votes out of 36
  4. Mustapha Baimba – recorded as absent
  5. Elizabeth French – 32 votes out of 36
  6. Peter Edward Kanyako – recorded as absent
  7. Dauda Solomon Conteh – 13 votes out of 36

Accordingly, the following were duly elected to serve on the Board of Cricket Sierra Leone as members:

  1. Elizabeth French
  2. Alhaji Koroma
  3. Philip Sahr Sam

Speaking on behalf of the moral guarantors, Sports Director Haroun Korjie congratulated the newly elected board and wished each member well.

For his part, re-elected Board Chairman Francis Trevor Samura thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him by making his second term a reality. He said he would continue to uphold democracy, and thanked government representatives for observing the process.
