Sierra Leone’s U-17 technical team, headed by head coach Patrick Bangura, is set to appear before the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Technical Department following the team’s disappointing performance at the WAFU A regional qualifiers for the 2027 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Sierra Leone, who were drawn in Group A, suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Senegal before losing 4-1 to The Gambia. They ended their campaign with a goalless draw against Mauritania, collecting just one point from three matches.

The Young Leone Stars conceded nine goals during the qualifiers while scoring only once, a record that has generated criticism among supporters and football stakeholders.

Some fans have called for the entire technical team to be dismissed following the poor showing. However, any decision regarding the future of the coaching staff is expected to be taken by the SLFA Executive, based on a recommendation from the head of the SLFA Technical Department, John Edward Keister.

The technical team is expected to explain its preparation, player selection and overall performance during the tournament before any decision is made regarding their future.
