SLFA Referees Committee Admits Offside Error in Kallon FC vs Waterloo FC Clash

The SLFA Referees Committee says Waterloo FC’s 79th-minute goal against Kallon FC should have been disallowed for offside.

1–2 minutes

FREETOWN, Sierra Leone — The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Referees Committee has officially acknowledged an officiating error during the Leone Rock Premier League match between Kallon FC and Waterloo FC.

In a statement released today, the Committee addressed the controversy surrounding the goal scored by Waterloo FC’s Roy Freeman in the 79th minute.

According to the statement, Freeman scored from an offside position, following a failure by Assistant Referee Alhaji Saidu Dumbuya to correctly identify and signal the offence.

“Upon review of the match footage, the Committee confirms that the goal should have been disallowed in accordance with Law 11 of the Laws of the Game (Offside),” the statement reads.

The Referees Committee says it will conduct further technical assessments and implement corrective measures, including refresher training and appropriate administrative or disciplinary action against the officials involved.

The Committee expressed regret over the error and reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, improving officiating standards and safeguarding the integrity of the Leone Rock Premier League.

The statement was signed by the Chairman of the SLFA Referees Committee.
